Lately there has been a big push to show the positive side of living in Rochester, NY. I figured it's time for me to do my part.
First, a little about myself. I was born and raised in the Rochester area. I graduated from School of the Arts, have two beautiful children and currently work for a major bank in the mortgage department.
Working with mortgages has been up and down the last few years but it has been a great experience. For the last few months interest rates have been very low and we've been busy with mortgage refinancing. Now that rates are starting to creep up that aspect of our business is slowing down, but President Obama's $8,000 first time home buyer credit is helping to keep the mortgage industry busy. People are coming out of the woodwork trying to buy homes.
I'm a recovering Army wife. My husband spent a year in Afghanistan with the Reserves and is currently a baseball coach in the area. We spend a lot of time with youth sports trying to keep the kids involved in fun, positive activities. It takes a lot of energy and effort but I think we get even more out of it than we put in. You really can't go wrong working with children.
In my limited "spare" time I like to take in everything the local community has to offer. That will be the focal point of this blog. I look forward to touching base with you on a regular basis.
